Notice: Due to 4-5 feet of snow that still exists along the tracks from Spencer to Grandview and on the Spencer platform, Glacier Discovery train service to these areas has been delayed and is now expected to begin on Sunday, May 25.
Ride the rail to Spencer Glacier and steal away on a gentle float tour among the icebergs at Spencer Lake and down the Placer River. Professional guides, raingear, and rubber boots are provided. Please dress in warm layers. Conditions around the icebergs are chilly.
This tour departs from Anchorage, Girdwood, Portage, or Whittier. A deli-style lunch is included. Tours departing from Anchorage or Girdwood include one-way rail and a return to Anchorage by motorcoach from the Portage stop. The motorcoach will make a stop in Girdwood for passengers staying at Alyeska Resort. Motorcoach arrives Anchorage at 6:45 pm.
