An exciting educational opportunity rolls into 9 communities along the Alaska Railroad March 31-April 9. Alaskan elementary school students are invited to participate in the 2008 Whistle Stop Tour Train, a rolling classroom and exhibit hall offering educational and potentially life-saving activities. Materials and public educators will be on hand from the fields of Railroad Transportation and Safety, Emergency Management, Environmental Conservation, Public Health, Forestry, and Citizen-Led Emergency Prevention/Preparation.

First Come, First Served
The 2008 Whistle Stop Tour Train will be open to scheduled classroom visits between 10:00am and 2:00pm, in the communities/locations listed below. Due to limited time and parking, visiting classes are limited to 40 students and must be transported by bus. Click on the location below to access a site map.

• Palmer: Fairgrounds Depot Track - April 2
• Wasilla: Pittman Road Siding Track - April 3
• Talkeetna: Spur Siding Downtown - April 4
• Healy: Outfit Track - April 5
• Clear AFS: Spur Track - April 6
• Nenana: Long Pass Track - April 7
• Fairbanks: Depot Track - April 8-9

How to Sign Up a Class Visit
Teachers can sign up their class for a one-hour time block by following these easy steps:

• One: Scroll down to the schedule for your community. Pick at least two one-hour time blocks (if possible) that are still open on the schedule. Times that have a school name beside them are already reserved.
• Two: Click on the RESERVE TIME BLOCK link (below), which activates an email. In the body of the email message, provide the name of your school, a contact name, phone number, email address, and list your preferred time blocks. If your system does not have an emailing program, you can use your hotmail or other email account to email a reservation request to wheelers@akrr.com.
• RESERVE TIME BLOCK.
• Three: Wait for an emailed response that will confirm your reserved time block.
• Four: Check back on this web site page. Within 24 hours, your school will appear next to your reserved time block, so that other schools will not double book this period.
