GENERAL PUBLIC
While the Whistle Stop Tour is organized to provide free training for front-line emergency responders, it also offers a unique venue to connect with the public regarding emergency situations. In the spirit of public service, the Alaska Railroad partnered with the Alaska Departments of Health & Social Services (HSS) and Environmental Conservation (DEC) to offer a mobile emergency preparedness “fair.”
The 2008 Whistle Stop Tour Train includes several railcars that will be dedicated to the public, with presentations, experts and materials to help to help citizens plan ahead to avoid or mitigate dangerous situations. The following are some of the programs and topics offered by the Whistle Stop sponsors, as well as nationally-recognized preparedness organizations.
